Pummelo (C. maxima), citron (C. medica) and mandarin (C. reticulata) were suggested to be basic species in Genus Citrus. Molecular data support that there are very few basic species in Genus Citrus and all other Citrus groups including commercially important Citrus fruits originated by hybridization involving these three basic species and possibly related genera. Understanding their relationships with members of the related genera is essential in the Citrus breeding. Keywords :
