Mulch is covering of the soil with organic and inorganic materials. Use of mulch in vegetable growing supplies many advantages to the farmers in terms of water conservation, weed control, reduced labor requirement, temperature modification, reduced costs, protection of soil structure, soil structure improvement, reduced nutrient and water losses, cleaner fruit, control of disease and harmful and decreasing cost of crop input.
